Solar System Pricing and Best ROI For Edison Customers

How Much Does a Solar System Cost?

Great question, here’s the answer. We suggest you get a system that gives you the best return on investment, rather than the biggest system you can put on your roof.  We are not opposed to “full offset” systems, or even oversized systems, but we have found that most customers prefer the best ROI approach.

How Do We Size a System for Best Return on Investment?

Each month, Edison customers are allowed a “baseline” amount of electricity (304 kWh), at a relatively low cost of 12¢/kWh. A customer who uses an average of 304 kWh/month will get a bill of $37.  Above the baseline, the price per kWh goes up dramatically.  For example, a customer that uses an average of 1212 kWh/month (4 times the baseline amount) pays $278.

By sizing the system to offset the above baseline usage, you get the best “bang for your buck” on your investment. For this customer, we sized the system to produce an average of 908kWh/month (1212kWh -304kWh), reducing her bills by $241/month.

On the chart below, find your bill amount, and see our recommended system size and the associated system price, rebate, tax credit, payback year, and probably the best number of all… the number of pounds of C02 eliminated from the atmosphere by having solar, instead of using fossil fuels to generate your power.
